Snails can be found in most aquariums & can become a nuisance. As well as eating aquarium plants snails also produce waste, which adversely affects the quality of the water & can lead to fish becoming ill. Snails may also carry diseases, which can be transmitted to fish. They are also a major problem in aquariums used for breeding as they eat fish eggs.

Some snails are more resistant to treatment than others and may therefore take longer to deal with.

Once snails have been killed it is important to remove them from the aquarium. If dead snails are not removed they will decompose resulting in poor water quality.
